fluidflo® Automatic Catalyst Addition Unit
FUNCTION & ADVANTAGES
Operational efficiency of a FCC Unit is greatly improved by automatic and controlled
Catalyst addition.
The fluidflo®
Catalyst Addition Unit allows the addition of Catalyst at a precisely controlled rate.
The fluidflo®
unit is a Dense Phase Pneumatic Conveying System. It replaces rotary valves and other
mechanical type feeders.
The first of the Catalyst Addition Units were installed in 1967 and is still in
operation. Since that time, the unit has been improved and upgraded as Catalyst changed
and requirements for accuracy became more demanding.
There are now over 100 of these units in operation world-wide.
Refineries using the fluidflo®
unit, report the following operational advantages and cost justifications:
-
STABILIZATION of the FCC Unit by the addition
of Catalyst at a uniform and controlled rate.
-
ELIMINATION of "Runaway" Catalyst addition which
can result in high Catalyst losses and severe temperature variation.
-
ABILITIY to preselect an accurate amount of
Catalyst to be added by weight or to batch and blend two Catalysts.
-
RECORDED USAGEof Catalyst.
-
REDUCTION of visual air pollution from stack losses.
-
ELIMINATES the necessity of keeping the Catalyst
storage hopper under pressure.
-
REDUCES the erosion of the carrier line due
to the low conveying velocity characteristic of dense phase pneumatic conveying.
